We are called to give generously and with a cheerful heart. Each week your Officers need approximately $3500 to meet our Annual Pastoral Charge Budget. Complimentary Advent Prayer Breakfast:

On Saturday, December 12th, Bethany United Church Worship & Sacrament Committee, Carbonear, will be holding a Complimentary Advent Prayer Brunch in honour of her 60th Anniversary Year, starting at 11 am from the Church Hall.

The focus of the morning will be PEACE. There will be a time of reflection past and present, a Keynote Address, as well as special singing and a time of corporate prayer.

Registration opens on Oct. 26th for Members of the Congregation, and for the General Public of Carbonear and the surrounding areas on Nov. 16th by calling our Office at 596-6754. Limited seating available, so please register early.

A special word of thanks to our Exercise Class for sponsoring the meal.

Remember, “More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of.” Let us therefore lean completely on the power, guidance and presence of our Wonderful Lord as a Community of Faith.

Bethany United Church Men’s Fellowship will be hosting their Annual Saturday Night Out on Sat., Nov. 07th starting at 7 pm from the Church Hall. Special Music by “The Northshore Trio,” as well as “Mildred Osborne Smith.” This promises to be a most enjoyable evening of entertainment. Dessert, consisting of a selection of homemade pies will be served, including Tea/Coffee. There will be door prizes and giveaways. Tickets are on sale now at $10 each. World Food Day Food Drive –

As part of our Collaborative Ministry with Victoria United Church, Bethany United Church will also be sponsoring a Food Drive in support of local Foodbanks on Friday, Oct. 16th from 9 am – 4 pm. Food Items will be blessed at our Children’s World Food Sunday Worship Service on Oct. 18th at 11 am. To participate, simply drop your food items off to the foyer area of the lower level entrance just by the Church Office. Food items may also be brought along to worship on Oct. 18th. Thank you in advance for supporting our Outreach Initiatives.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and your families! Today, we thank God for all our blessings, and I was blessed to have all of these young people in SS class at our Bethany United Church. We practiced our songs, and made crafts for next week’s World Food Children’s Sunday Service. As the NL Recreational Cod Food Fishery started on July 01-Sept. 07(Summer), and another on Sept. 19-27 (Fall), we wish to remind that Bethany United Church is seeking 250 plus lbs of fresh cod fillets for a proposed Church Fish Supper. August – PAR Month

Today, I am happy to share with you a few of the ways our Bethany United Church Congregation is trying to help you, our parishioners, grow in your faith.

These include Sunday Worship Services, Pastoral Care & Visitation, Exercise Class, Men’s Fellowship Meetings, Bible Study, Sunday School, Confirmation Classes, Gospel Concerts, Songbird Music Ministry, Program Support, etc.

Another way that we strive to help you grow in your faith is by providing ways for you to be generous. Consistent generosity and stewardship are important spiritual practices for those following Jesus. Jesus spoke a lot about the relationship His followers should have with money and resources. Both are important tools in our life of faith and justice for all. Sharing them whenever possible is critical.

So, this month, we invite you to prayerfully consider using our regular monthly giving program, PAR. PAR stands for Pre-Authorized Remittance. It’s a way that your monthly financial gift to our Local Church and to our larger work through Mission and Service can be automatically withdrawn from your bank account and placed into Bethany United Church’s account. It’s easy to start and simple to change, as those of you already using PAR know very well. Feel free, for example, to reach out to parishioner, Keith Thomas about his experience.

If you are not giving consistently and regularly through PAR, please consider taking that step in faith. For those of you already using PAR, thank you, and maybe now is the time to make an increase in your giving.

Either way, PAR sign/up or update forms, and any answers to your PAR questions are available by going to united-church.ca and searching under PAR, or calling 416-232-6004. Alternately, you may contact our church office at 596-6754. Ashley, our Church Secretary, or John Comerford, our Treasurer, will be happy to assist you.
